The Superintendent coordinates delivering base building additions and new build projects within the retail, commercial, and institutional sectors. Working closely with the Project Manager, the Site Superintendent is responsible for directing, organizing, and controlling all project activities from the site. You will also supervise all sub-contractors in the execution of construction activities, ensuring that all project documents such as drawings, specifications, and contracts are being strictly followed and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. The Site Superintendent shall be responsible for scheduling, inspections, and quality control, including adherence to and enforcement of the Occupational Health & Safety Management Program. The Site Superintendent will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Prodigy’s policies, applicable laws/ standards, and authorities having jurisdiction. This position will require travel to various Prodigy sites and occasional after-hours work.

As a Site Superintendent, you’ll be responsible for:
- Leading and managing the day-to-day operations on the project site regarding safety, planning and scheduling, site logistics, quality management, resource planning, material handling, and trade coordination to ensure the project's total completion within the project and company requirements.
- Implementing the requirements of the project quality control and quality assurance program and ensuring it is being adhered to throughout all project phases.
- Ensuring compliance with Prodigy’s health and safety requirements (exceeds industry standards).
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring the project schedule against project requirements.
- Developing and implementing strategies when required to recover or improve project schedules.
- Facilitating coordination between subcontractors.
- Ensuring the project is completed per plans, specifications, and other project-specific requirements.
- Mentoring project support staff at all levels and across cross-functional teams.
- Supporting the Project Manager in project cost management.
- Preparing appropriate look-ahead schedules.
- Supporting estimating and preconstruction services as required.
- Maintaining all daily logs and records as per company and project requirements.
About You:
The successful candidate will have the following:
- 5+ years’ experience as a Site Superintendent within the construction industry – ICI base building and interior renovation projects are considered an asset.
- Fulsome understanding of the Construction Management (CM) and Stipulated Sum project delivery models. Experience with Design-Build, Integrated Project Delivery, and other Hybrid Models is considered an asset.
- Must have experience working on projects over $50 Million.
- In-depth knowledge of the construction industry, specifically construction specifications, building materials, means & methods, and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills with all stakeholders (Trades, Architects, Tenants, Owner Representatives, and Executives) in all forms, including written, verbal, email, telephone, and in-person.
- Capacity to lead and manage the project’s site team (contracted and internal team) and create an environment that promotes collaboration and synergy towards the project’s success.
- Be able to understand and resolve disputes in a fair and reasonable manner.
- Highly independent, driven, and dynamic individual.
- Experience using technology in the field – working knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.
- Supervisor Competency Training (i.e. Basics of Supervision), Working at Heights, and First Aid Certifications are required
- Experience enforcing company safety policies are followed for all individuals accessing the site.
- Ability to complete all required health and safety documentation for the project.
- Ability to consistently deliver projects respecting the established schedule, cost, and quality standards.
- Ability to develop the project execution strategy, project schedule, and resource forecast in collaboration with the project management team.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including night shifts.
- Ability to identify missing/gaps in scope, constructability issues, and opportunities to value-engineer through detailed construction documentation review and articulate these findings and proposed solutions clearly and concisely.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- This position is primarily site-based and works in both indoor and outdoor environments on construction projects.
- Attending meetings outside of the site as required.
- Computer work, sitting at a desk to compile reports, meetings, emails, phone calls, and other tasks.
