Job overview
Senior most position in the quality and food safety department and reporting to the President of the company. Accountable for the quality and food safety of all the products processed at the manufacturing site.
Responsibilities
- Primary contact for the CFIA, OMAFRA, ORGANIC, HALAL, KOSHER, Third party auditors, certification bodies,
- Keep the Pre-Requisite programs and HACCP programs up to date,
- Coach and develop all the departments across the plant to comply with the requirements of the Pre-Requisite programs and HACCP programs,
- Develop, implement and maintain the GFSI program effectively and efficiently,
- Lead and prepare the plant to successfully pass third party and regulatory audits,
- Collaborate with the production and the maintenance leads to ensure that products manufactured and packed are meeting the highest standards of food safety and quality,
- Train, direct and supervise the quality and food safety team to ensure that the monitoring, verification and validation of the quality and food safety programs is carried out at a scheduled frequency,
- Champion the root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventive action programs to reduce out of specification products and to ensure that the products meet customers and consumer expectations,
- Actively engage with the suppliers of ingredients, packing materials to ensure the quality of the supplies complies with the specifications,
- Collaborate with the external laboratories for the chemical, microbiological and physical analysis requirements,
- Participate in the development of new or improvement of existing products and ensure that the third party and regulatory requirements are complied with,
Desired attributes
- Bachelor degree in Food Science or Dairy Science,
- Proficient in the interpretation of the SFCA, SFCR, FDA, FDR, Preventive Controls, CPLA and CPLR, as it applies to Canadian dairy products manufacturing facilities,
- Hands on experience in developing, implementing and maintaining the Pre requisite programs, HACCP programs for Canadian dairy products manufacturing facilities,
- Recent hands-on experience in developing, implementing and maintaining GFSI systems,
- Experience / Exposure to dairy or cheese processing facilities in Eastern European countries is desirable but not a must,
- Experience of leading a team of quality and food safety professionals with diverse backgrounds for at least 5 to 10 years,
- Basic knowledge of food microbiology and environmental monitoring, statistical process control and it’s application.

- Proficient in creating Quality and Food Safety policies, programs, SOPs, SSOPs, training materials
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point etc.)
Work hours
Available to Work Monday to Friday and Saturdays as required.
