We are currently looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Project Horizon Capital Finance team, reporting to the Manager, Finance. You will be joining a growing team, responsible for supporting the capital financial oversight of the Hospital's largest transformation project ever - Project Horizon. We are building a new SickKids with a multi-billion-dollar campus redevelopment project. We're not only transforming our campus, but how we deliver care to one of Canada's most vulnerable populations: our children. You will be part of a broader 100+ staff finance team with opportunities for growth and development. The Project Horizon capital finance team consists of 3 staff members reporting under the Director, Corporate Finance & Treasury portfolio.
Here's What You'll Get to Do:
- Leveraging technology, support the design and build of revamped internal and external capital financial reporting for all levels of management including the Board of Directors.
- Support project management to understand the financial health of the Project and make strategic decisions.
- Working closely with cost consultants, project management and the Ministry of Health (MOH) capital branch, support the preparation of the Project's multi-billion-dollar capital budget (including revenue and expense) phased over multiple years.
- Liaise with project managers to review and update capital forecasts and ensure variances to plan are highlighted and reviewed.
- Support the development of the Project's local share plan identifying funding sources for the capital costs not funded through the MOH, including working closely with the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation.
- Prepare financial month-end journal entries, budget and forecast adjustments, account reconciliations, cash flow forecasts and variance analyses.
- Manage large volumes of procurement and payment information in tracking life-to-date capital costs for both internal and external (MOH) reporting activities.
- Liaise with the MOH capital branch to provide project reporting and support for funding requests.
- Liaise with the external audit team and internal finance teams to coordinate audit requests and procedures for the annual consolidated financial statement audit and special audits.
- Actively participate and provide support in financial planning discussions by gathering accurate information in a timely and efficient manner.
- Proactively identify risks and opportunities, challenge the status-quo, and discuss efficient process changes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
- Prepare ad hoc reports and perform other duties as required.

Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- Completion of or in progress of completing a recognized accounting designation (i.e. CPA)
- 3-5 years financial accounting experience in a large, complex organization
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels within the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills, organized, proactive, results-oriented, and able to deliver on tight deadlines.
- Commitment to working in team-based environments.
- Passion for process simplification and improvement.
- Ability to design, prepare and analyze financial reports.
- Highly computer literate and proficient with the MS office suite, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
Assets
- External audit experience is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with construction project financials is considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Workday Adaptive Planning, PowerBI and Qlikview is considered an asset.
- Prior experience within the public sector and sound knowledge of PSAB, and not-for-profit accounting standards is considered an asset.
