JOB DESCRIPTION
CBC’s Unscripted Content department is looking for a skilled and dynamic YouTube Producer to help grow the YouTube audience for two priority arts and culture shows: Q with Tom Power and Commotion with Elamin Abdelmahmoud.
As Producer, you will be responsible for the full range of channel management duties: publishing full interviews, clips and Shorts; running live streams; establishing best practices around titles, thumbnails and metadata; tracking audience growth against ambitious goals; and engaging with audience members. You will also play a key role in setting YouTube strategy for both shows.
You have a high fluency in the YouTube landscape, including a deep understanding of audience, format, packaging and distribution trends on the platform. You are eager to experiment with new approaches, see what’s working and pivot accordingly. You are also a keen collaborator, and recognize the importance of working hand in hand with a team.
The role primarily focuses on packaging and publishing YouTube video, but the ability to shoot and edit is an asset.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Optimize YouTube video content for Q and Commotion:
Upload and publish videos
Create, maintain or contribute to channel publishing schedules and calendars
Create and package clips and YouTube Shorts from full-length content and other vertical video platforms
Create engaging titles and thumbnails
Operate YouTube live streams
Work in close collaboration with show teams, video teams and digital producers
Use YouTube analytics to assess and establish trends in audience viewing and modify strategies accordingly
Contribute ideas and regularly share relevant feedback with show teams
Recommend and implement video SEO and YouTube best practices for new content uploads and back catalogue
Collaborate with Media Solutions and Ad Operations in order to execute against YouTube revenue opportunities
Assist with Content ID and YouTube monetization policies as required
Book facilities and equipment required for production
Other duties as required, including performing the function or duties of an equivalent or lower classification
QUALIFICATIONS
Requires five years’ experience of which three must involve work in digital video or a closely related industry, which is directly related to the area of assignment
Must have demonstrated experience within the social video and YouTube landscapes, and ideally direct experience managing a YouTube channel
Must have knowledge and experience of best practices, tools and processes for publishing original online video and repurposing audio/video content.
Must have technical knowledge and understanding of YouTube, social media and online video platforms
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite — specifically Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects and Photoshop
Experience editing and optimizing social videos
Experience and understanding of various video formats and codecs for distribution
Experience producing live streams an asset
Camera, audio and lighting experience for producing content an asset
Understanding of YouTube monetization best practices
Ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a positive, entrepreneurial attitude
Technical knowledge of how to use YouTube CMS and Content ID
Organized with strong attention to detail
A demonstrated familiarity with the arts and pop culture
