Job Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Economic Development, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will provide marketing and communications assistance to support to core economic development activities, including business retention and expansion, and investment attraction. The Coordinator will work independently and with in partnership with other staff in the department.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing support to staff on a wide variety of marketing and communications initiatives and events for the department
- Development of a social media strategy to encourage increased followers and engagement with target audience(s), including key performance indicators and analytics
- Creation and implementation of online marketing campaigns
- Creation of marketing and communications materials which may include PowerPoint presentations, signage, advertising materials, trade show materials, news releases, etc.
- Preparing copy and content for use on the Invest Oakville website
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills:
Applicants should have a university or college degree in a discipline relevant to the job function, such as Business, Economics, Economic Development, Commerce, Marketing or Communications.
- Sound understanding of local economic development in Ontario and economic development in general
- Knowledge of graphic design, social media, and photo/video editing tools and software will be considered an asset.
- Excellent research and analysis skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
