Position Summary
Imperial is recruiting for an Associate, Investments in our Toronto office. The role represents an exciting opportunity to join a growing and dynamic team. The Associate will play a key role in assessing and executing new investment opportunities, as well as managing portfolio companies. Key responsibilities include:
Industry Research: Identifying healthcare, business and consumer services industry sectors which have better than average economics, large total addressable markets, significant fragmentation and high quality of revenue.
Deal Generation: Once an industry sector has been identified and approval has been obtained to pursue the industry, the Associate will help create a database of potential acquisition candidates and, along with other team members, contact these companies to establish a relationship and determine their interest in a potential transaction.
Transaction Support: Once an acquisition candidate has been identified, you will work with team members to analyze the opportunity, which will include the following:
- Preparing acquisition models;
- Preparing transaction summaries;
- Preparing information request lists;
- Undertaking research in the industry sector;
- Reviewing due diligence materials, analyzing and summarizing your findings for the rest of the team; and
- Preparing investment memos.
Portfolio Company Management:
- Reviewing and analyzing reports from portfolio companies;
- Keeping abreast of industry trends and issues and informing colleagues; and
- Special projects, including assisting the portfolio companies with strategy, capital structure, etc.
Qualifications
The candidate should possess the following experience/background:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in investment banking, private equity, or other relevant areas;
- High level of proficiency in Excel and Power Point; strong financial modeling skills;
- A professional, positive attitude and capable of contributing to a dynamic and team-oriented culture.
