Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public broadcaster.
Created in 2015 to align, lighten and modernize infrastructure, the Technology & Infrastructure (T & I) team is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections; between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between.
A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly regarded pioneer of media technology. Not just in Canada, but around the world. Today, we’re transforming ourselves from conventional radio and television broadcaster into a modern digital media company. Technology is the driving force and we are the team making it happen.
This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with Hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.
Your team
CBC/Radio-Canada is looking for a Network Telecommunications Analyst for its Toronto team. This is an opportunity to be part of Canada’s oldest and most respected broadcaster as an implementation, maintenance, upgrade and support specialist for the transmission of audio and video signals through our Private Wide Area Network (WAN); and local area networks (LAN) in all CBC/Radio-Canada facilities, including IP telephony, security and firewalls. We are looking for someone who is ready to take on new challenges in providing support for the national IP infrastructure, you are not afraid of accelerated timelines, and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that your role is essential for media dissemination. This opportunity offers you a balance between level 3 support and project work. And this is just the beginning. This is a great opportunity to learn and work with the world’s most advanced broadcasting infrastructure, including IP. You won’t find a system of that magnitude... yet. You will become one of the first subject-matter experts in the industry, and you will continue to progress and develop.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
- Diploma or Degree in computer science, information technology or related field
- A few years of practical experience in the implementation, configuration and support of telecommunications network devices, with early experience in the use of network protocols, switches and routers, and/or IT security knowledge, Fortinet management systems (Fortimanager) and firewalls
- Fortinet Firewall experience/familiarity, with creating Firewall policies, managing units etc.
- Knowledge of, or interest in, routing for audio-video content and broadcasting systems for television and radio (SMPTE 2110)
- Knowledge of SQL, API, python, C#, VB, Ansible, Netbox would be an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with the ability to analyze and synthesize information, including documentation detailing technical specifications. Bilingualism (French-English) is a plus.

- Strong analytical skills, an innate ability to think about complex problems and design innovative solutions, as well as to dissect problems, overcome obstacles and propose short-and long-term solutions
- Ability to adapt quickly to new tools and technologies, while staying abreast of industry best practices
- Willingness and ability to work on-call at all times (including evenings, weekends and holidays) on a rotational basis
- Solid grasp of Information Security methodology, DMZ, proxies, and VPN branch offices
